Avoid!
While searching for hotels you may come across some places not listed on FirstTimeLasVegas.com, usually Downtown, and be dazzled by a price so low you can't help but look at it. Don't be fooled by the cheap sticker. There are bargains to be found in Las Vegas, but there's a certain point where "bargain" becomes "rathole."
Keeping the number of holes in your body to the standard is far more important than saving a few dollars, and we're big believers in the old saying "Any vacation where I didn't contract leprosy was a good one." If rooms regularly go for under $20 your leprosy-free status might be in danger.
Also, any hotels said to be in "North Las Vegas" might as well be labeled "North Siberia." Vegas is a busy city. Under normal traffic conditions, North Vegas can be anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour in a cab away from any of the spots we tourists love.
In short, we're confident you can find good prices at the places we have recommended. And we're even more confident that by staying at one of those hotels your trip won't include a nervous visit to a Clark County emergency room with you explaining, "No, I don't know WHERE the needle came from."
