I am getting married in Vegas on Saturday, 18th April, 2009. I will be arriving the Thursday before and would like to arrange to visit a hairdresser. Can you recommend anyone? I will be staying at the Imperial Palace.
Kind regards,
Paula

You can get a high-end style without too much of a high-end price at ARCS (A Robert Cromeans Salon) at Mandalay Bay. Robert Cromeans stylists have a reputation as being tops in Las Vegas and you can't go wrong with any of them. Updos run about $75+, while a bridal service is $85+. Haircuts run in the neighborhood of $70-$130 depending on the stylist's experience level. Of course if you want a styling from Cromeans himself — the man Stevie Nicks uses to have her tresses looking their best — the price jumps to $1000.
My suggestion is to decide what level of experience you are looking for in a stylist, then call for recommendations from the receptionist (702-632-6130 or 702-632-9390) or send an e-mail through the salon's online contact form. Mandalay Bay isn't too long a walk from Imperial Palace, but be sure to get good directions from the salon staff, as it can be hard to find things among all the shopping in that particular area.
Since pre-wedding pampering shouldn't be just for the ladies, your husband-to-be to get might enjoy an appointment at The Art of Shaving, located between the Luxor and Mandalay Bay, where they specialize in old-fashioned shaves and haircuts using the Art of Shaving line of products. The popular Royal Shave goes for $55 (and takes 45 minutes) and a haircut costs $40, but you can combine a Royal Shave and a haircut for $80. There's also a lesser-priced Traditional Shave, hey, it's Las Vegas! He should get to splurge a little, too!
Advance reservations are highly recommended for both ARCS and Art of Shaving. If you don't make them, in fact, it's unlikely you'll be able to find an opening once you arrive in town.
Since you'll have a couple of days before the wedding, you and your fiance may want to catch a show. Zumanity is Cirque du Soleil's latest and sexiest show on the Strip at the New York New York. It's adults-only fare — and it's WAY adult. Of course if you have a few bridesmaids with you, the Thunder from Down Under at the Excalibur may be what's needed for one last raucous night with the ladies.
Have fun and congratulations!
